First Christmas Song

While cooking food for tomorrow, I decided to listen to a radio station back home. And then I heard my first Christmas song for the year. "So This is Christmas" by The Beatles was playing on the background.

It has been so long since I celebrated Christmas with my family in the Philippines. I miss the children singing Christmas carols, the glimmering lights in every house because of the 'Parol' (or Christmas Lanterns) or Christmas lights.

I really don't like listening to Christmas songs ever since. I get so homesick that I feel so many mixed emotions I can't feel anything anymore.

So much for that. According to my Christmas countdown link, it is 53 more days to go before Christmas. Maligayang Pasko sa lahat!

Starbucks Mugs/Tumbler Collection

I always hear people talking about their own Starbucks collection. I never really thought about it until now. They look so cute and being a traveller, I am thinking of starting this hobby also. Quite not sure on what to collect - tumbler, mugs or mini mugs. Neil said, better to collect tumbler as it is easier to carry.

Now, I can't wait for our Cambodia trip and go to Starbucks and get my first ever collection :)

Rainy Days in KL

The rainy season in KL has just arrived. It has been raining daily for an hour since last weekend. Acdg. to Wikipedia, rainy season starts here from October to March. But it seems like everything has changed since I moved in here. Totally the effects of global warming.

I have promised to some girls in the forum Girltalk that I will update my blog to show some how to go there, etc. things around KL. This I will definitely be doing one of these days. Today, it just so happens that I am sick and at home, that I was able to update my blog.

By the way, the Zero fare from Air Asia started yesterday. Though it was so hard to go in because of too many people wanting to get their free seats (not actually free because of fuel charges, airport tax, plus RM16 charge one way per person when paying for an international flight), I was able to book for Langkawi and Jakarta for next year. Now, that is what I am so excited about. Plus, I have asked sis to come over here on November 2012 for a week so we can go backpacking :P I hope Neil can come too!

Will update more later. Have to go to clinic for medical certificate :(

P.S. I started this post with rain so heavy. And in a span of 10 minutes, here comes the sun again. Now you know why I am sick!

Christmas Countdown 2011 - Find out how many days until Christmas 2011

Christmas Countdown 2011 - Find out how many days until Christmas 2011

I saw this website while looking up how many days it is from now before Christmas. As Chirstmas celebration starts in the Philippines when the 'BER' months comes in, it has been a tradition to count down the days from Sept. 1.

I miss celebrating Christmas in the Philippines. Seeing the decorations like the 'parols' (lanterns)in the malls, listening to children singing Yuletide carols ('Namamasko po') where we usually say 'Patatawarin, wala pang Pasko eh!', hearing some Christmas carols aired in the radio, and of course, a more congested traffic situation in the streets of Manila esp. near malls. Oh of course, the puto bumbong and bibingka everyone has to eat right after Misa de Gallo.

Another thing why I do count down is, once BER months are here, it is the start of a monthly birthday celebration in my family: Mama - Sept 4, Me - Oct 19, Con - Nov 5 and Papa - Dec 17.

Hay, I miss you all! Maligayang pasko sa inyong lahat!

Timeless by Alexandra Monir

I never thought this book will make me want more. A modern 'Somewhere in Time' YA book but with a happier ending (I suppose so).

It all starts when Michele (with a single 'L') happens to live with her maternal grandparents in uptown New York. Her grandparents just so happens to be the famous (and rich) Walkers and she is going to live in this grand mansion that has been the home of the Walkers for over a century. Being alone (as her mom passed away in an accident and her dad leaving them before she was even born), she felt so lonely in that big house. She was able to find an odd looking key that became the start of her time traveling - back to time her ancestors lived - only that one of them can only see her. Until she finds Philip, the boy from his dream. As the story evolved on how Michele travelled from present to past, helping her ancestors and being with Philip, she also found out a little about her long lost father - Henry Irving - or Irving Henry in the past.

It's a page turner, one of those YA books that make you feel good, makes you cry and feel what Michel is feeling, and in love. The book ends of a 'Philip Walker', a new student, entering Michel's classroom, a splitting image of the Philip Walker boyfriend she had in the past.

1st Time Post

Hmm, this is my first time ever to post a blog and I don't know what to say. Creating this one has come to some debate between Neil and me on what to put as a title, what template to use. Then I remembered, I came to admire the song 'La Vie en Rose' and me coming to such an awakening of loving 'girly' stuff at this point in my life, I decided to use the that same old song title in this blog.

Perhaps, my blog would consists of our day to day life in the midst of the buzzling Kuala Lumpur city which has been my home for nearly three years. And as I write the start of this blog, while overlooking the golf course of Bukit Jalil and the highway, I feel excited and nervous on my 'little baby blog'.

Hope to always have the time to update this one (after deciding to stop playing some of the addictive games in Facebook, which after contemplating on which to drop, I finally decided to just leave Restaurant City and the new The Sims Social games, I'm just starting to play Sims as my sister - Maricon - always love this game, so here I am trying it out).

Sorry for all the blabbing. This is how I really am. I remember, some of my close friends would actually tell me, I always tend to shift to a new topic even though we are in the midst of discussing one. Or, I tend to say something which is not really on the subject of what we are talking about, but in the back of my mind, it suddenly occurred to me since I think it is actually related to what we were talking about....Oh, sorry, I am starting it again, am I??!?!??!

3 days off this week (Tuesday to Thursday) but still going to the office on Monday and Friday. Tuesday and Wednesday is the celebration of Hari Raya while Thursday is the celebration of Merdeka Day (their Independence Day). Originally, 31st is the Merdeka Day but has been moved to Sept. 1 to celebrate the 2 days solely for Raya.

So, to all my Malaysian friends, Selamat Hari Raya and Hari Merdeka!
